Ventura to Santa Barbara Walk

Our walk adventure started by boarding the train in San Diego and getting off in Ventura. The total distance was to be 30 miles. Along the way we found some great campsites.

Ventura Cafe

The Busy Bee Cafe in Ventura was a great "retro" diner with old fashion jukebox music, shakes, and good food.

Heading out from Ventura

Could this be ice cream heaven?

Our path, the ocean!

The beach along the way was terrific. We had a few dolphins accompany us as we walked.

Accomodations along the way

There were numerous shelters along the way, some were more elaborate than others

More elaborate lodging

I kept hoping for room service but so far this is as good as it gets!

Soothing Water on Sore Feet

It was great to be able to take off our shoes and play in the water!

The Real Deal!

We finally made it to the Cliff House Inn in La Conchita. It was right on the water and all of the rooms overlooked the ocean.

Cliff House Inn - Excellent Food!!

The food at the Cliff House Inn was absolutely fabulous!! Every meal we had there was superb!!

La Conchita to Carpenteria

As we left our comfortable motel and great food, we found more elaborate lodging along the way.

The trail to Carpenteria

We found an excellent trail above the ocean on the way to Carpenteria.

More fantasic trails

The trek along the ocean was wonderful!

Help!

After walking and walking, I was about ready to use the call box but I wasn't willing to give up yet.

Harbour Seal Moms and Babies

At Carpenteria we were able to view a Harbour Seal colony with Moms and lots of babies!

On our way to Montecito

After having lunch in Carpenteria, a cute little town, we headed out for the Mira Mar Inn (which unfortunately was abandoned) and then on to Montecito.

Hunting for Golf Balls

As we walked by the Montecito golf course, Jay couldn't help but pick up lost golf balls along the way.

We enjoyed margaritas at Madison's on State Street in Santa Barabara!

Enjoying the Sunset in Santa Barbara

We enjoyed a great sunset and wonderful meal in Santa Barbara before we boarded the train to return to San Diego the next morning. It was quite an adventure!
